I find it difficult to photograph Crater Lake in a way that hasn’t been done already. Its rare when an image expresses a new take on the grandeur and deep quiet of this breathtaking National Park and being there at the right time is crucial. Knowing the weather is not a predictable thing, I enjoy searching for unique foregrounds. “Lake Tourist” is a recent result.

One of my earliest visual memories was spotting a cluster of sunlit trees against a very dark sky. I had no words for it, but the feeling was palpable. “Pampas Grass” was taken in similar circumstances.
